Skyscanner – Travel Trends 2026

Freelance work for Ilka studio x Skyscanner

Skyscanner produce an annual report detailing travel trends and destinations for the coming year. The data it publishes is highly anticipated by industries as well as travellers planning their next trip! For 2026, this global report was released as a website in 13+ languages, with localised data for each country.

Working with the team at Ilka studio, we populated and typeset the websites with the translated content, as well as sourcing images for the localised reports. I enjoyed getting to grips with Skyscanner's brand guidelines to ensure the photography fit their tone. Attention to detail was essential in the proofing and testing phase, and quick clear communication was key within the international team working to a tight deadline!
Skills: CMS (WordPress), Typesetting, Accessible web design e.g. writing Alt tags, Image sourcing, Working within brand guidelines, Working with a global team under time pressure

Working across languages ranging from Spanish to Korean to Arabic meant problems with typefaces, word lengths, and leading were inevitable. A thorough proofing stage meant issues could be flagged and reported in advance, to ensure visual standards were maintained globally.
Prioritising accessibility
This report has a beautiful and adaptive layout, making it easy to navigate for all. I enjoyed learning about the importance of Alt tags for imagery, making websites usable for screen readers, and about how to design websites to be responsive across different screen sizes.
